The GICITED group participates in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 (SCEWC25)

The Interdisciplinary Group of Science and Technology in Building (GICITED) at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia · BarcelonaTech (UPC) participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, held at Fira de Barcelona.

The research group, under the umbrella of the BioSAFE project, presented prototypes of insulating materials for building facades and envelopes. These materials stand out for being of biological and renewable origin—using agricultural byproducts—offering a sustainable alternative to traditional insulation.

The BioSAFE project aims to develop construction solutions that not only improve the acoustic performance and energy efficiency of buildings, but also enhance fire safety. GICITED's participation in the congress underscores the crucial role of university research in developing tangible solutions to promote sustainability and comfort in the urban environments of the future.
